Oxford Tutorial College

Established for over 25 years, Oxford Tutorial College is one of the UK's leading providers of pre-university education. An Independent sixth-form college, we specialise in preparing candidates for university entry. Our expert tuition and personal attention is coupled with a strong culture of industry and self-motivation, encouraging a growing sense of responsibility and providing a springboard for success in the GCE examinations, at university and beyond.

Tutorial Tradition

Our students are taught in the tutorial tradition, in a similar format to Oxford University students. Tailored teaching is delivered in small tutorial groups of up to 6 students, ensuring that students get the attention they need to reach their potential. Our tutors are experts, over 50% of teaching staff have Master's or PhD degrees. Expert subject knowledge is combined with highly developed study skills strategies to help achieve the best results.

University Success

Our support throughout the university application process leads our students to strong exam results and top university offers. In 2017, 64% of our students received offers from Russell Group universities including Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College London.

Courses Offered

The college offers A-Level, BTEC and GCSE courses. Our flexible approach enables us to create a bespoke programme of study including intensive 1-year A-Levels, 5 term or 2-year A-Levels; BTEC Diploma courses over 6 months to 18 months, and our intensive 1-year GCSE programme. Retake courses are available over 1, 2 or 2 terms. We offer an impressive range of subjects with 30 A-Level subjects to choose from. We place no restrictions on the student's individual choice of subjects but we will offer sound advice on the best subject combinations for the student's university and career aspirations.

Academic work is supported by regular meetings with a senior tutor and by frequent progress tests. Specialised support is available for those who need to develop learning skills and all students benefit from the emphasis placed on study skills and examination technique.

Intensive Easter revision courses are offered in a wide range of A-Level subjects and in the core GCSE subjects. Easter Revision Courses are available with residential and non-residential options, based at Brasenose College, just 200 yards from Oxford Tutorial College.

College Amenities

Facilities include a well-stocked library, a new IT suite, resources areas, a welfare office and student kitchen and common room.

While many of our students live within convenient commuting distance, for those whose homes are further away excellent boarding accommodation is offered in our supervised residences or with hand-picked host families.

The college offers a lively programme of activities for memories of Oxford that will last a lifetime. Extra-curricular activities include debating, film, law society, basketball, table tennis and football along with social events such as international evenings, fundraising events and film screenings. Students are able to join the nearby Oxford Union, with its well-stocked libraries and stimulating programme of debates and speaker meetings.
